“Serbian Eagles in full speed“
Since ancient times, sailing has spread around the globe, on every ocean and sea. However, some countries have developed sailing on lakes.
As for us, we sail on the rivers!
Serbia has two great rivers flowing through, Sava and Danube, where we battle against strong competition and even stronger currents. We spend a lot of time grounded on the river banks, because we try to stay in the weakest current. We also spend some time on the sea, where we sail on one of the first RC44 prototypes. Since 2005, the team has been exceptional and has won many regattas in the Adriatic, helping Serbia reach the top level in the regional keel boat racing.
Serbia is known for winning medals in all kinds of sports and now we are happy that we have the opportunity to win one more and continue our tradition.

4 We have four RC44 World Championship titles among us. All four as a shore team.
Goran Stevanovic
The captain of the SSL Team Serbia is a true leader and passionate sailor. Having a background in IT, he is very good at crunching numbers, which comes in handy on a sailboat, mastering tactics and strategy. Always looking for ways to improve performance and open to constantly learning. As a helmsman, he has won numerous national and international regattas in small keelboats, like Micro class and Seascape 18. The great love he feels for sailing, not only sees him spend a lot of time on the water, but he also designs and produces the next generation of Micro class boats.
Arsa Stevanov
A sailor without a sea, blown by the wind from the Pannonian Sea to the collision course of the greatest sailors of today. As a crew member, he finds his place in every role, he knows how to feel the heartbeat of a sailboat, and the RC44 is his speciality.
Nikola Marjanovic
Nikola is an all-round sailor and together with the team captain Goran, has been dominating European and World level podiums in small keelboats, for the last six years. Nikola has won 4 Serbian national championship titles in the Laser. Holding M.Sc. in Aerodynamics, he tends to annoy other members on the boat, always requesting details!
Tihomir Zakic
Born near Lake Palic, one of Serbian National racing areas, Tihomir sailed dinghies from a young age, Optimist and Laser, to Finn class, where he won many national regattas. He doesn’t stop there, as also sails on the ice in winter time, when Lake Palic is frozen.

The majority of sailors in Serbia are youngsters in the Optimist class and we are proud to have a European Championship title in the Optimist. Despite our youngest SSL team member being only 18 years old, Nikola Banjac has made it into the Top 20 nations on the ISAF Youth World Championship in the Laser class and he is a bright future for Serbian sailing.
